Biochronological Significance of Late Triassic Tetrapods from Krasiejów, Poland
نویسندگان
چکیده
The Krasiejów locality in the Upper Triassic of southern Poland yields the tetrapod taxa Cyclotosaurus robustus (= C. intermedius), Metoposaurus diagnosticus (we reject proposed subspecies of this species), Stagonolepis robertsoni, Teratosaurus suevicus (= T. silesiacus), Parasuchus bransoni and Silesaurus opolensis. The occurrences of Parasuchus and Metoposaurus indicate the Krasiejów assemblage is of Otischalkian age, and the presence of Stagonolepis at Krasiejów expands its temporal range to Otischalkian-Adamanian. Previous nonvertebrate biostratigraphic correlation of the Krasiejów locality to the German Lehrberg Schichten is confirmed by vertebrate biostratigraphy and provides a good example of how a newly discovered tetrapod assemblage (at Krasiejów) demonstrates the utility of the global Triassic tetrapod biochronology.

Biogeography of Triassic tetrapods: evidence for provincialism and driven sympatric cladogenesis in the early evolution of modern tetrapod lineages.
Triassic tetrapods are of key importance in understanding their evolutionary history, because several tetrapod clades, including most of their modern lineages, first appeared or experienced their initial evolutionary radiation during this Period. In order to test previous palaeobiogeographical hypotheses of Triassic tetrapod faunas, tree reconciliation analyses (TRA) were performed with the aim...

An isolated limb bone from the upper Anisian interval of the Muschelkalk in Bavaria, Germany is the radius of a Dinodontosaurus-grade dicynodont. This is the third dicynodont bone documented from the German Muschelkalk, and it may indicate that Dinodontosaurus records are not strictly Ladinian in age, but could also be

BACKGROUND Ichthyosaurs were an important group of Mesozoic marine reptiles and existed from the Early Triassic to the early Late Cretaceous. Despite a great diversity in body shapes and feeding adaptations, all share greatly enlarged eyes, an elongated rostrum with numerous conical teeth, and a streamlined body. METHODOLOGY/PRINCIPAL FINDINGS Based on new material from China and the restudy ...
متن کاملBiochronology of Triassic bivalves
Substantial advances by numerous researchers over the past 20 years have made it possible to develop a composite biochronological scheme for the Triassic based on the bivalves Claraia, Peribositria, Enteropleura, Daonella, Halobia, Eomonotis and Monotis. These bivalves exhibit temporal durations nearly equal to ammonoids and conodonts. Widely distributed across the Tethys, Panthalassa and Borea...

A new locality of early Late Triassic age in the Richmond basin of east-central Virginia has yielded abundant remains of a diversified assemblage of small to medium-sized tetrapods that closely resembles Southern Hemisphere (Gondwanan) assemblages in the predominance of certain synapsids. Associated palynomorphs indicate an early middle Carnian age for the fossiliferous strata. The discovery su...
